Christmas 2010 Pledge Cards

During the Christmas Day service in 2010, church members were invited to write a prayer or a message to God on a pledge card and leave it anonymously at the front of the room.

Here are some of the messages that were received, from both adults & children:

• Jesus, I promise to pray each day.

• “What a friend we have in Jesus.” Jesus, I accept you in my life.

• God I am thankful for what you are doing in my life. Thanks for your love and transformation. Thanks.

• Dear Lord Jesus,
Dear father God,
Dear loved Friend,
Holy Spirit
I give you all my thoughts,
My words, the whole of my life to you.
And a Big, Big thank you for everything you have done for me.

• Dear Jesus
I confess my sins to you, please forgive me.
I repent of my sins, In the name of Jesus Christ.
I now accept the free Gift you freely give,
Eternal Life
Through your son, Jesus, I accept the free gift of Grace.
I am your willing servant this day

• I love you Jesus

• Happy Birthday!

• Jesus, I rededicate my life to you.

• Jesus, I’ll try give you my heart fully.

Photowalk #11: Glenbrook Vintage Railway

This month our group went back in time to the good old (very dirty!) days of steam and spent the day riding trains and clambering around the yard. We had the biggest turnout so far for a walk and despite a bit of sunburn everyone enjoyed the day.

Children’s Ministries Day

Yesterday we were treated to a wonderful Sabbath service hosted by the Children’s Division. The kids had worked very hard for the past few weeks practising their parts and songs, and it was lovely to see them all participating and enjoying their roles in the service. Some photos:

Photowalk #10: Whatipu Beach

Five hours at Whatipu Beach in gorgeous weather is the perfect way to end the month. The group travelled out on the long winding gravel roads and spent the afternoon wandering the dunes and beachfront, finishing with sunset. Some photos:

Church Social: Talent Quest & Cake Auction Fundraiser

Over 100 people came and supported this amazing night, with talent items performed by all age groups across the church (including some visitors), and a yummy selection of homemade cakes which were auctioned off throughout the evening. All proceeds from the cake auction have been put aside to help pay for a large van for the church’s Youth and Pathfinders – a grand total of over $1100 was raised, with one gorgeous professionally designed cake alone bringing in $350 from two buyers! What a wonderful effort from all involved including our amazing Social Committee… don’t miss the next social event in two months’ time!

Photowalk #9: Eden Garden

A well-kept secret in the middle of the city is Eden Garden, which was created out of the old scoria quarry in the 1960s and is now an amazing place to visit. The Photowalkers got a wide variety of photos and enjoyed the outing. Samples below:

Pastoral Appreciation Day

Ministry is a rewarding but tough calling; the special demands made of a pastoring family can also place a lot of strain on the family members’ shoulders, so it is important that they have the support of their church community in order to function effectively. Pastoral Appreciation Day gives the church members a chance to express their thanks for the hard work of their Pastoral Team. As can be seen below, it is always well received!

Pathfinder News: Aug-Sep

In early September, the Pathfinders went walking at Muriwai Beach. Packed lunches were eaten on the way, and the group spent the afternoon exploring the dunes, cliffs and beach area. Nesting gannets were spotted as well as a dead seal, and there was some fun in the sea-caves too.
